Hi friends! It was so nice being back in my old stomping grounds for a week, and I’m sharing details on our accommodations. When I lived in New York City, we almost never went to Times Square. However, it’s truly the epicenter of America! I’ve always wanted to stay there, and was honored that the Intercontinental Times Square wanted to host me and my husband while we were in town!
If you don’t know NYC well, check out my NYC Guide HERE.
The Location
The Intercontinental Times Square is located on 44th street between 8th and 9th avenue, just steps away from the iconic center of the Times Square neighborhood.
Getting around New York is actually extremely easy by subway! There’s no more efficient and affordable way to travel than to take the train. I was so excited to see the hotel is literally sitting next to the Times Square subway station. It’s about 3 steps to the east of the Intercontinental main entrance.
If you aren’t comfortable taking the subway, then cabs are extremely easy to grab. The hotel bellman are so kind, and anxious to help you grab a cab. I have to say, I was deeply impressed by the service!
I look forward to eating at New York’s incredible restaurants every single time I’m back. The Intercontinental is steps away from some of the absolute best restaurants! There’s well known restaurants such as Carmines, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, and even Olive Garden. However, my husband and I prefer indigenous NYC less known spots. One of our favorite Thai restaurants is called Qi. It’s actually just 4 blocks north of the hotel on 9th and 48th street, and we went for lunch during our trip.
We also went to see a Broadway show and bought our tickets at TKTS in Times Square. The Intercontinental is about a 3 minute walk away from TKTS, where you ca buy same day show tickets at a discounted price. We saw Beetlejuice, and it was amazing! The theater was just about 5 minutes north of our hotel. So convenient!
I also go to SoulCycle every time I’m in town. The location that was most convenient was Bryant Park. It was just about a 10 minute walk, which was so easy. Plus, if you want to do some shopping or check out beautiful Bryant Park, it’s so easy to get to!
Anyways, all in all, the location couldn’t have been more convenient!
Hotel Service
Upon check in, the bellman offered to help us with our bags. They took our large suitcases and followed us into the hotel to check in. Our room wasn’t quite ready, but the gentleman checking us in was insanely gracious and gave us drink vouchers to use at the bar in The Stinger Cocktail Bar & Kitchen (their hotel restaurant/cocktail lounge). We hung out and had a couple drinks, and the room was ready in less than 30 minutes!
The Room
We had a beautiful, spacious, corner suite with so much room to spread out! It was also immaculate (cleanliness is so important to me!).
By New York City standards, we were living like kings! My husband and I lived in a tiny apartment when we lived in the City, and this room was about 2 times the size! The bathroom was pretty sizable, as well.
The room also had a full size desk and sofa. Plus a Keurig machine and stocked coffee and creamer.
The biggest highlight was the views! We had 180 degree views of the city from our 27th story room, and I’ve never seen a more stunning view. It’s breathtaking at night, as well! You can see the Times Square light… I felt so lucky to be able to stay here!
Amenities
The hotel has it’s own restaurant and bar, 24/7 room service, breakfast (that you can order by putting your choices on the door with the delivery time – literally my favorite ever!). The room also has a fully stocked mini fridge, which was great for water, soda, drinks, etc. We truly felt like we got the royal treatment with the best hotel amenities!
Overall
Overall, I highly recommend The Intercontinental Times Square! We truly felt at home, and are every so grateful for the royal treatment they gave us during our 3 night stay. I sincerely cannot wait to come back to the city and stay here again!
xoxo,
Melissa
