Hi everyone! If you’ve been following me for a bit, you know my husband and I recently moved into our very first home. As first time home buyers, we asked our friends (including Insta friends) for help. We wanted to know things you did or wish had done to your home house to make it your own. We kept hearing, “customize your closet”. With my job as a fashion and lifestyle blogger, I admittedly have a lot of “stuff” and honestly have never had a great way to organize. We knew that creating a custom closet in our space was important to us, and prioritized this as one of our immediate to-do’s.
We’ve been fortunate enough to partner with Inspired Closets of Arizona and today I’m sharing our final reveal of our custom closet. I won’t lie, I’ve never been more excited to share a blog post or reveal before! Teaming up with Inspired Closets was an absolute dream, and they were so incredible to work with from start to finish. So today, I’m revealing all of the details of our custom closet with Inspired Closets of Arizona.
Background
I’m sure many of you remember Jesse and I heading to the Inspired Closets in Phoenix over the summer. We wanted to kick off the meeting early enough, so that when we closed on our home, Inspired Closets AZ could install as soon as possible.
Prior to heading into the initial meeting, I scoured Pinterest for inspiration and asked friends and family for suggestions. I also did a question box on Instagram, and seriously so many of you helped us make smart closet decisions!
For background, we’ve actually never had a walk-in closet! My very first apartment was in New York City. It was a tiny 300 square foot studio. I had a long narrow closet, but as you can imagine, it didn’t fit much. I remember Jesse asking to have a drawer, and I legitimately told him there was no room for that! Poor guy. Our second apartment (and first as a couple) was 700 square feet with 2 tiny coat closets. Finally once we moved to Arizona, we had a rental home, which was built in the mid 1950’s. This home also didn’t have walk-in closets. So it was important to us to ask for help and tips and wow did you all come through!
What Was On Our Closet Wish List
Here are some of the must-have’s that you recommended, and we went with for our custom closet:
- Valet Hooks
- Denim Rack
- Jewelry Trays
- Spot for purses
- Full Length Mirror
- Hanging Space for Long Dresses
- Belt Rack
- Tie Bar
Our Initial Meeting
Over the summer Jesse and I went to the Phoenix showroom to help bring our dream closet to life! The showroom had multiple closets set up to help us see a ton of available options. We chose cabinet colors and hardware, and talked through our vision. Truly the team contributed with incredible suggestions (honestly I would have had no idea how to make this space so perfect without them!).
After our meeting, the team came out to our new home to measure our closet (I love that they came to double check the builders measurements). Once the measuring was complete, they sent us several rounds of our design until we finally nailed it down. Honestly, they pretty much hit the nail on the head within a week and just a few back and forth emails.
The thing I love about Inspired Closets Arizona is they really listened to our needs. They made recommendations that we never would have thought of and truly can create any dream space you desire! We’re actually already brainstorming how to have them help with our laundry room and garage! They do everything from garage spaces, to custom closets and everything in between. I know we went all out for our dream closet, but if you simply need help designing a more useful storage, pantry or reach-in closet space, they can do it. Now let’s get into the design!
The Design
I’ve been so excited to share this with you guys! I’m sharing the renderings plus photos of the space after install. It’s truly our dream closet come to life!
Walls 1 and 2 are Jesse’s side, wall 3 is a mix of both, and then walls 6 and 9 are mine (the other walls are literally just walls). I’ll show you visuals to help it make sense. Below is the layout of our closet and the final photos of how it turned out.
