If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me share my Poshmark frequently on IG stories! 2021 is here, and I am in a full force closet clean out! I’m talking, selling almost all of my clothes for a fresh start to the New Year! Poshmark is the best app I’ve personally used to get rid of clothes fairly quickly and seamlessly, plus Poshmark helps keep my closet manageable and it’s a great way to earn some extra cash! With all of the sharing, it’s prompted tons of questions from you on IG, so today I’m sharing a full Poshmark Guide: How to use and sell on the app!
You can find my Poshmark closet by clicking HERE.
When I list on Poshmark, I love setting a goal and working towards it! Sometimes I want to get rid of 20 items and make $250 for some botox, or a new bag, etc. This is a great way to save towards extra “splurge” items that may not be in your day to day budget! I also love to use my Poshmark money to buy new items for myself off the app – I typically look for things like designer bags, expensive shoes, etc. You can find items that are up to 70% off retail pricing! I purchased my Stella McCartney bag and first Gucci belt on Poshmark. The company stands behind authenticity, as well!

What is Poshmark?
Poshmark is a popular online/app marketplace for new and secondhand clothing items for women, men, kids, home, and more.
How does Poshmark work?
Selling: The selling aspect of Poshmark is pretty simple! You create a free account, and list individual items for resale. Each post contains photos of the item + information like brand, size, condition, price, etc.
Buying: Search Poshmark for 1,000’s of different items for women, men and kids. Poshmark is a great place to get name brand items for a fraction of the cost! Some items are brand new!
FAQ’s:
Does Poshmark charge a fee to sell items?
Although your account is 100% free, Poshmark makes money by taking 20% of the item sale price. So if you sell an item for $100, Poshmark keeps $20 and you keep $80.
How does shipping work?
Both the selling and buying side of Poshmark have an extremely streamlined shipping process. Majority of the time the buyer pays shipping, however, the seller can offer free shipping to the buyer. In this case the shipping cost would be deducted from your earnings on the item sold. Either way it’s a very easy process and when you sell an item, the shipping label is automatically generated and emailed to you! You print and place the label on your box and drop at USPS (or authorized ship center)!
What boxes do I use?
You can use any box or bag that you want! I reuse boxes that I receive at the house, and I also use free boxes from USPS! You can order free shipping supplies at www.usps.com. Poshmark does have sizing limits (total box size cannot exceed 108″), but they are large and it’s unlikely you’re going to ship anything you are shipping.
How do I get paid?
Once an item sells, you must ship the item and the buyer has to “Accept” the item before the funds are released into your Poshmark account (but there is a time limit, so the buyer can’t wait for 2 weeks with no payment to the seller. I believe it’s 5 days upon receiving). From there you can either direct deposit the funds into your checking account, request a check, or leave the money in there and let it build up or use it to buy items from other Poshers!
Tips for Selling On Poshmark
1. Be an Active User! I have the most success selling items from my closet when I am engaged on Poshmark. This means you are following other users, sharing their items (in hopes they share your items in return), sharing items to “Posh Parties”, and sharing items in your closet to your own users to keep your closet refreshed and active.
2. Send Out Offers! When users “like” your items for sale or create a bundle of multiple items from your closet, you have the ability to send them and offer! This is a great way to offer a little extra discount and push for a sale.
3. Fair + Friendly Pricing! Remember this is secondhand and people are looking for a deal. Most of the time selling an item and getting it out of your closet is better than it sitting there unsold.
4. Fast Shipping! When someone buys an item, I try to ship out the next day! It doesn’t always happen, but the faster the shipping, the happier the buyer. Buyers rate your item and you as a seller – good ratings are important.
I hope this helps give a little insight into Poshmark! It is one of my favorite and most used apps.
