My Review
For years, I have been on the hunt for the perfect face foundation to compliment my oily skin. I’m searching for the perfect long lasting, semi matte (but sort of dewy), medium coverage foundation. Finding a foundation that is long lasting and offers a beautiful glow, has been a seemingly impossible task.
Oily skin was the bane of my existence when I was a teenager (it drove me nuts!). Back then, I knew nothing about makeup, and thought Powders were the best for me. I wore pressed powder for years and years, and the oil just kept coming! I literally used to carry around those face oil strips to pat down my t-zone mid-day. If you’re anything like me, you know the struggle to finding the perfect foundation.
I read about Becca’s Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation, and all signs pointed to “worth the $42 splurge”! Not only did the description say it that it is made for excess oil, it also offered medium coverage, is paraben/sulfate/phthalate free, and has vitamins A & E. Awesome! I bought this product back in September 2016. Since then, I’ve used it on and off.
Packaging
The packaging is nice. It’s a brown squeeze tube, with a silver cap and silver writing. It has a peek-a-boo view of the actual foundation color, as well (which I love). It’s soft, plastic, and easy to travel with. True to the Becca brand look and aesthetic.
Wear
I use the foundation color “nude”. Try to always shake the bottle before using it (sometimes I forget, but hasn’t negatively impacted the wear, that I’ve noticed). You can use a foundation brush or your fingers, but brushes have always been my preference. This time I used my MAC 187 Duo Fibre Face Brush.
I place the product on the MAC 187 brush first, and start in the center of my face (on my nose, center of my forehead, and middle of both cheeks), and work the product outward. That way it can be blended properly, and not just cake on in one area. Make sure you get the top of your neck (nothing is worse than a distinct foundation line on your face/neck area)! Once I place the product completely, I take a wet sponge (you can use a sponge or Beauty Blender), and pat the product into your face. This really completes the application! Definitely do not skip this step.
Once the foundation dries, it turns into more of a powdery feel. True to the promise they make on their site! A trick I’ve learned that helps my foundation last longer, is to let the foundation dry, place loose powder with a brush on top, and then finish your look!
The foundation has sensational coverage! It’s not too much, but it definitely conceals. Personally, I like to only put on one layer (for medium coverage) but if you prefer more full coverage in your make up look, just do two layers. Many foundations are watery, but not this one. It’s more thick, but light weight, which is so important to me. I hate feeling like my face has literally been caked on (even when it is). I love the soft to touch, powdery feel that the product has!
After wearing this foundation for the past year, it’s become a staple in my vanity. As a gal who buys way too much make up (Sephora must love that my Rouge keeps getting renewed!), I continue to gravitate back to Becca’s Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation, because it really does last and execute as promised. The only downside is the oil starts peeking through after about 8 hours, which is still significantly better than I’ve had in the past. I only wish it lasted forever, but it has helped me feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin!
One thing to note, if you have sensitive skin like me, this does not cause extra clogging in your pores nor does it cause irritation. I’ve had so many nightmare situations from bad makeup reactions – and I’ve been safe with this one!
Conclusion
A highly recommended product for those of you who have sensitive, oily skin, and are searching for the perfect Matte foundation. Definitely get out there and buy the Becca Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation.
If you’ve tried this product, love to hear your thoughts!
