Hi everyone! It’s amazing to see how many DMs I get on Instagram in regards to things to do in Arizona. It’s time I share my AZ Local Guide, and let you in on my favorite places in my hometown!
To preface, I grew up in Scottsdale. When I was a kid, it was a sleepy town and in the past 30 years it has morphed into the 5th largest city in the country! I absolutely love my city and am thrilled to share some of my go to spots. Below you’ll find some of my favorite restaurants, hotels, and things to do in the greater Phoenix area.
Restaurants
A unique Mexican Asian fusion restaurant, with the coolest vibes!
A local favorite! If you go, get the bruschetta board (that’s what they’re known for!).
Literally the best breakfast ever!
A southwest hidden gem that is located near South Scottsdale.
A swanky old town bar, great for a killer martini (the menu is amazing!).
Upscale Mexican bar and restaurant (make reservations on the weekends!).
This is where we got married! They have the most incredible sticky buns (trust me, you have to get them) and the view is second to none (you get an up close view of Camelback Mountain).
For my wings and beer lovers, head to Zipps! Get the Foccocia (TRUST ME) with sweet jalepeno dressing on the side. It’s a super casual local sports bar, with many valley locations.
If you’re staying in Old Town Scottsdale, Prep & Pastry is the perfect casual coffee and breakfast spot. They also have great brunch and are located at Fashion Square Mall.
Located off the Canal by Fashion Square Mall. A great lunch spot! If you can sit on the patio, definitely do it.
A local staple with a south western menu. Get the Huckleberry margarita!
A modern twist on a steakhouse! If you’re looking for high end food with friends or on a date, this is a fun spot. Not for kids.
A swanky restaurant with total nightlife vibes! Expect loud music, great cocktails, and a total scene. Reservations required.
High end French food, that is absolutely mouth watering! I highly recommend for a romantic meal (not with kids).
Casual mexican food that is located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale.

Old Town (tons of antique stores, galleries, wineries, boutiques, etc)
Hotels
Located right on Scottsdale Road, The Princess is great for all kinds of trips. If you’re headed here in the summer with the kids, they have a great pool and slide for kiddos. Plenty of restaurant options onsite makes it so that you never have to leave! Also backs up to TPC golf course.
JW Marriott
If you want to stay in south Scottsdale, book the JW Camelback. This location is nearby Old Town Scottsdale, Fashion Square Mall, and 15 minutes from the Sky Harbor Airport. The Desert Ridge location is located in North Phoenix and I love the lazy river! It’s great for families.
This modern and new hotel is a luxury getaway located in the heart of Paradise Valley. Experience mountain views, high end accommodations, and a dog-friendly environment.
Great if you want to stay close to the Old Town Scottsdale area! It has a beautiful interior design, a stunning restaurant and bar onsite, and great outdoor areas to relax.
This is a renovated mid-century modern hotel located right on Scottsdale Road. Great for young couples and travelers who want to be close to the Old Town Scottsdale area.
Located in the Paradise Valley area and close to one of my favorite restaurants (El Chorro), this is a relaxing and southwestern getaway with the most incredible adult pool and spa. Easy drive to and from the airport.
Fun fact, my sister got married here! This is a great location if you’re looking for something in the heart of downtown Phoenix. It’s walking distance from local bars and restaurants and has a super hip and artsy vibe.
