It’s that time of the year again… SWIM SEASON! Some of us love it, some of us dread it, but here in Arizona, there’s no question I’ll be spending a TON of time by the pool soon. I’m notoriously picky with swimsuits. In fact, I have a really hard time finding the perfect swimsuits for summer! I’m constantly in search of swimsuits that are comfortable, cute, and will last for years. I invested in 4 swimsuits from Shopbop for Spring and today I’m sharing them! These are 4 swimsuits I’m totally gushing over for this year’s poolside days!
I wrote a blog post about the 3 changes I made to strengthen my damaged hair! If you want to read more, click HERE.
Why Splurge?
Here is some context on why I splurge on swimsuits. Let’s be honest, there is NOTHING worse than a swimsuit that’s uncomfortable! Whether it’s material or fit, I hate sitting poolside and wishing I was wearing something else or hoping the day ends early! Not to mention, in the long run I’ve spent more money on ill-fitting and poor made, cheap swimsuits that need to be replaced after two or three wears.
The pool chlorine, beach sand, and ocean salt can be damaging to swimsuits. When swimwear is made of good material, it can last forever! There’s a few brands of swimwear that I always gravitate toward, because I know they last for years! A few of the higher end swimwear brands I shop are Maaji, Montce (photographed below), and PQ Swim. There’s one Maaji bikini I ordered my senior year of college, and I still wear it! I remember it being the one swimsuit I bought that season (it was around $150 for the set), and after 12 years, I still wear it. So yeah, splurging is well worth it in the long run!
What I Look For When Shopping For Swimwear
The number one thing I look for when shopping for swimwear is material! It’s really tough to tell what material is good, but I look for swimwear that has Nylon, Elastane, and Spandex. That often creates a more comfortable swimsuit, vs anything with cotton.
The second thing I look for is fit. I’m 5’4″ and pretty much know what styles suit my body. My personal favorite styles are high rise bikinis, bikinis with adjustable side bottoms, and a v-neck one piece with a cheeky bottom.
Pro tip: try to find reviews! For example, I refuse to buy Amazon swimwear that has no photos. I can easily tell whether or not the product will suit my body type based on other people’s photos and reviews!
The 4 Swimsuits I’m Gushing Over!
The swimsuit above is from WeWoreWhat at Shopbop. I can’t even tell you how impressed I am with this purchase! First of all, it’s pricy. It retails for $195, but is nothing short of perfection!
This is by far the most comfortable and flattering one piece I have ever tried on! The material feels like butter on my skin. It’s extremely comfortable, and fits every curve where I want it to! I went with a size small, and it fits perfect. The chain belt is the cutest detail! I feel fancy in this Vintage Danielle One Piece! I highly recommend this swimsuit, I know it’ll last me for years to come.
The above swimsuit is from Good American. I almost grabbed it in leopard, but went for the black! I love the belt detail. The material is great, it’s not quite as buttery soft as the WeWoreWhat swimsuit above, but it’s still high end and comfortable. I can tell I will be comfortable wearing it all day! The Showoff One Piece swimsuit fits true to size, I’m wearing a size small and it retails for $109.
I also saw the Delhi one piece swimsuit by Faithful The Brand below, which is super similar to the Good American one above!
Hello cute leopard bikini!! This is the Sexy Twist Bandeau Top and Good American Waist Cincher Bottoms, both size 1 (which is comparable to a small). It’s super cute and comfortable, with medium coverage bottoms. The set is $100, which is a great deal for a designer bikini! It also comes in black.
L*Space is by far one of my favorite swimsuit brands! I’ve been eying this L*Space Beach Wave Bandeau Top and Frenchi Bitsy Bikini Bottoms set. It was beyond my expectation when it arrived! This bikini set is extremely stretchy and hits exactly how you would want it to fit. It’s made with 80% nylon and 20% spandex, which explains why it’s so comfortable! Whatever they’ve done to make this bikini, is working. Grab it for summer, it’s amazing!
