How many different tips have you heard about how to lead a healthy lifestyle? A bunch, I’m sure! The most typical advice we hear is to workout and eat healthy. While those are certainly great ways to stay healthy, I also have a few more tips to share with you! I’m here to break down some of the best tools you can use. Today I’m sharing 5 important tools for healthy living.
5 Tools For Healthy Living
1. Healthy Meals
As I’m sure you’ve heard before, breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Starting your day off with the right foods will give you more energy, it can control your weight, and help you reach your nutrient requirements. You should always try to incorporate whole grains, lean protein, healthy fats and fruits & vegetables. A quick idea to incorporate the nutrients you need to start your day, is a whole grain cereal with fruits and nuts plus a smoothie on the side (don’t forget to throw some veggies in there!) If you’re not sure where to start, check out the breakfast cookbook from Target!
2. Fitness Routine
We all know that working out is essential to being healthy. Figuring out a routine and type of workout that works for you could be the hardest part! Here are some of my tips and tricks to help you get started or motivated!
- Get some workout clothes that you feel confident in. Part of what gets me motivated is picking out some cute gym sets that I feel great in and get excited about. When you feel good before starting to workout, it’ll go by quicker and it’ll be more fun!
- Keep a yoga mat at home. If you can’t make it to the gym, or if you mainly workout at home, a yoga mat is the perfect tool to keep rolled up at home. Not only is it useful for yoga, but you can also use it to soften the ground you workout on (especially for sit-ups, burpees, and any floor workouts!)
- Use ankle/ wrist weights: these are great to level up your workout. You can use them for your home workouts or at the gym. Even if you’re just going on a brisk walk, put these on for some extra resistance!

3. Kitchen Tools
Here is a list of items you can keep in your kitchen for a quick way to make healthy decisions every day!
- Your favorite water bottle. I like stainless steel bottles that are easy to travel with. I have the S’well bottle in pink topaz. Filling it up at the beginning of the day ensures that I’ll have some fresh water on hand before heading out for the day!
- Meal Prep Containers: I love using containers to prep meals for the week because it eliminates any temptations and it allows you to spend less time trying to come up with meals on the spot or on the go.
- Use a blender. Blenders make it super simple to make smoothies in the morning before or after a workout for a nutrient boost. They make such a difference in your daily routine when you add one to your kitchen!

5. Practice Gratitude
Practicing gratitude is healthy for your mentality. It includes journaling, using wellness apps, and meditating!
- Journaling: writing just a few things you are thankful for each morning or night is one of the best ways to practice gratitude. Writing them down gives you something to look back at it when you need a reminder.
- Wellness apps: there are a bunch of wellness apps you can download to help you practice gratitude and to relax. A perfect example is the app Headspace. It provides you with guided meditation and help managing stress. I encourage you to check it out!
- Meditating: meditation can be different for everyone but if you practice just a half hour a day, you can figure out what works best for you. Make sure you’re in a peaceful environment and set the mood with dimmed lights, soft music, and essential oils!
