Hi everyone! If you’ve been keeping an eye on the latest styles, you will have noticed that 90’s trends are BACK! I never thought I’d see the day where the fashion from my childhood came back but I think it’s coming back in a better way. If you grew up in the 90’s you’ll never forget all the fashion trends…am I right?! Low rise jeans and mini skirts, for example, are making a comeback and I’m here for it. The styles are totally acceptable to wear now and I’m going to break down exactly how to style them! Today I’m sharing 90’s Trends That Are Back in Style This Year.
Don’t forget to check out my post, Must Have Spring Accessories!
LOW-RISE JEANS
I know your first thought might be that you’d NEVER wear low rise jeans again BUT let me change your mind! Remember when I said the 90’s trends are coming back in style but better? The low rise jeans (which honestly are more mid rise) that convinced me of that are the Low Rise Baggy Jeans from Abercrombie! They’re honestly more of a mid rise which means they won’t sit too much lower than your belly button. That’s a win for me!
See below for how I styled them!
Low Rise Jeans / Black Crop Top / Classic Flip Flops / Gucci Bag
Low Rise Jeans / Off Shoulder Sweater / Western Booties
MINI SKIRTS
When I think of 90’s mini skirts, I think super short AND low rise which isn’t the best combo. However, the 2022 version of the 90’s mini skirt is more of a high-rise and a bit longer! If you’re wondering how to style them, I got you covered! I rounded up a bunch of picks that are totally acceptable to wear today and stay on-trend. I love the idea of white sneakers (my go-to’s are the Reebok Harman Sneakers) and a Plain White Tee (check out this $16 Target Tie Back Tee!) I also would style these skirts with a sleek bodysuit like this Halter Neck one from Abercrombie & Braided Heeled Sandals (link an under $50 Amazon Find!)

FLORAL PRINTS
Florals have been in style in different ways throughout the decades. In the 90’s, bold colored floral prints were super popular, especially on dresses and pants. Today, florals are coming back but less neon and in more muted tones which I love. Below, you’ll see exactly how I styled my white/floral Halter Neck Maxi Dress from Petal & Pup and the cutest Wide Leg Floral Pants (also from Petal & Pup!)

VELOUR
How could 90’s babies ever forget about all things velour?! It was a fashion staple in the late 90’s and of course, into the early 2000’s. Juicy Couture is mainly to thank for that! I loved the matching tracksuits and still do to this day. Velour has made a comeback in a slightly different sense this year and you’ll definitely be excited about the spring velour picks that are on-trend and rounded up below! I included both tanks and shorts. I would style the shorts with either a matching tank or a plain cotton tank like this $15 Amazon find! The velour tanks would be perfect with denim shorts like the BKE Stretch Short (one of my faves!)
