It is FINALLY here!! The long discussed and heavily anticipated dining room redesign. Flashback four years ago, Jesse and I had just moved to Arizona from New York City and left our tiny 600 square foot apartment for a 1500 square foot house. As you can imaging, we didn’t have enough to fill the space, and we also didn’t have the money to furnish it as we really wanted to.
In May, we started by transforming our never used guest room into a home office (transformation HERE). We both loved how the room turned out and knew we eventually wanted a dining room we could actually use and have people over for dinner!
Once Black Friday rolled around, the deals were too good to pass up! We rent our home, so changing big things wasn’t on our list (light fixtures, paint, etc), making it easy for us to keep costs low. Before diving into all of our changes, check out the before photos!
Check out my home office transformation!
Before
You might be looking at this room thinking, WTF! Because girl, I am too! However, this was our very first dining room as a couple. When we lived in NYC, we didn’t have one! We had no room for a table, so despite the space looking awful, we were grateful to have one.
The table was a hand me down from my sister, and the chairs were a super cheap Target buy that we could afford. The art work is actually really special to me, because I bought it when I lived in the city (first piece of art I ever bought when living alone!). However, it absolutely did not go with the room! Also the other art is just unexplainable. I thought it was cool in 2013, and felt like I should display it. Lesson learned!
Clearly my style has changed a TON, however, I’m not embarrassed the room. It was still a symbol of our first big kid home together, and I’m even more excited to finally be able to decorate it!
FINALLY – here is the after!

The Details
Dining Room Table & Chairs
This room was a labor of love! We started by choosing a dining room table, and knew that marble and black would go with everything. The original table I saw was over $1500 from Crate and Barrel, plus tax. The price was expensive for us, so I searched high and low for something more affordable. Luckily enough, I found this amazing marble table for over $500 less! It comes in wood (on sale for around $500) and marble. We love the marble! It came in two pieces with FREE delivery, and we had a task rabbit come help us assemble it (for $40!).
The chairs were actually a post Christmas sale deal at Anthropologie, and were only $50 each! THESE are similar, but they sold out super fast. They’re so comfortable, so I’m sure the other Anthropologie chairs are just as great.
Table Accessories
I found all of the table accessories on Amazon, which really tie the room together nicely! These are easily changeable, and really inexpensive. Click to shop below!
The Rug
Let’s talk about our rug! We went with Ruggable, because it’s a dining room and spills are bound to happen. Ruggable was the best option, because the rugs are machine washable! They’re also affordable. Ours was only $199 for a 5×7 and it fits the space perfectly. Ruggable is hooking you guys up with a discount code, too! Use code FUNMELISS15 for 15% off of your purchase!
The Buffet & Mirror
The buffet area truly completes the room! I wanted black, because it matches the table base. This exact one also comes in white. It’s also really affordable and easy to assemble. We put it together in about an hour. The doors took the longest for us to get on correctly, in full transparency, but for the money it was worth it!
I fell in love with the Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose Mirror years ago! I’ve actually been eyeing it since. When I saw Anthropologie had a 30% off sale for cyber week, I bought it! The one we have is the 3′ in black (HERE), and now I want the 7′ in gold! We don’t have a space for a 7 foot mirror, but for now I’m really happy with the black one. It truly ties the room together, and we didn’t have to put holes in the wall.
Bar Cart & Accessories
I was looking for a circular bar cart for the corner of the to offset the table being rectangular. I loved the marble and gold, since it matched our table and chairs. It’s also $139, and all of the other bar carts I was eyeing were well over $300! I’d say we got a deal.
I accessorized it with some Anthropologie cocktail glasses, a super cute marble cocktail shaker, a gold bar tool set (on sale!), and obviously a Vanderpump Rules cocktail book! The bottom has a little 3 wine bottle rack, which is also white and gold (on sale too!), which I thought was perfect.
The Wallpaper
Speaking of the wall, I am SO excited to share the wallpaper assembly process on my Instagram stories for Wine Wednesday tonight! Loomwell graciously sent us the Monty Wallpaper that I fell in love with, and it truly transformed our entire space! Since we rent, we went with Loomwell, because it’s a stick and peel. Not to mention, the quality is amazing! It’s thick and easy to work with. It only took me about an hour to complete the entire wall all by myself (yes BY MYSELF!). Details will be on Instagram tonight and will be saved to my story highlights, as well! I truly cannot recommend Loomwell enough! I’m itching to do other rooms with their wallpaper now.
Corner Shelf
Wayfair actually sent me an email with this exact shelf inside, and I couldn’t believe my eyes! I was trying to find a final piece to tie the room together, and this was perfect. The white and gold details were exactly what we needed to complete the space! It’s a very sturdy shelf and came in just a few days. I have a few other items to add to the shelves, but it took all of 3 minutes to unbox and hang.
Hope you love it as much as we do!
