Hi friends! Today I’m diving into exactly why I took out my tape in extensions and made the switch to Glam Seamless clip in hair extensions.
The History
Let’s talk about my hair history! Basically I’ve had thick and strong hair for most of my life. I’ve had my fair share of times where I’ve seen it get damaged from dying it or over styling it, but for the most part my hair grows quickly and is very strong.
Early last year, I had MAJOR hair envy from all of my blogger friends! Most of them had such long luscious locks, and I felt like I needed them, too. I decided to get tape in extensions, mostly for more fullness since my hair was long, so I could keep up!
Being totally honest, I felt amazing! I loved how they looked and felt like it made my hair stand out so much more. I got so many complements on my hair, I figured this was the ONLY way I could ever style my hair again!
The Truth About Tape Ins
Although I loved how the tape in extensions added volume to my hair, I really despised washing and styling. It took much longer for me to wash my hair, since I had to get between the tapes (which was such a pain), and also dry even more hair than I already had!
I also noticed my hair felt way dryer than normal. I’m still not entirely sure if it’s because I was damaging the heck out of my natural hair due to more heat and over styling, or if it’s because the tape ins were just dryer than my hair by nature.
I’d also have tape ins fall out frequently. Regardless of the type of tape, I always seemed to lose a few in between bump ups. I found myself at my hair dressers salon at least twice a month. Which actually got pretty expensive!
Fast forward 1 year and 3 tape in packs later, I had a hair appointment to get the extensions bumped up and I noticed my hair was unhealthy and massively damaged when my hair dresser took them out. I decided to just keep the tape ins out all together, and ended up chopping off my sad and split hair.
Honestly, I was super sad to have short hair! After all of these years of length, I just didn’t feel like myself. I decided it made sense to get long clip in extensions, that way I can still have long hair when I want to without the commitment of tape ins.
Why I Chose Glam Seamless
There’s plenty of brands to chose from when it comes to hair extensions, but Glam Seamless stood out to me for a few reasons:
- They’re eco-friendly, only using environmentally friendly materials and ingredients
- Glam Seamless had SO many colors, making it easy to match hair color perfectly
- The clip in hair is super light weight and comfortable
- The brand stood behind their high quality and is also much more affordable than tapes
- I love their mission to help women look and feel better!
The Cost Difference of Tape Ins to Clip Ins
Glam Seamless 20″ clip ins come with 7 Clip Wefts (140-220 grams of hair), which is what I used to get the long hair seen above.
I can’t remember the exact cost of my tape ins, but they were somewhere in the range of $250 to $350 per pack. The pack would last me between 4 and 6 months. Bump ups are $75, PLUS tip and installation. I believe I’d end up spending about $100 extra for bump ups every 4 to 5 weeks. Not to mention I’d run in every time I’d have one tape in fall out between bump ups, and I always tipped my hair dresser for that!
Glam Seamless clip in extensions are MUCH more economical! The exact pack I have is $229, or 4 payments of $58, and that’s it. No cost in between, which is already a HUGE savings of over $1000 annually for me.
The Conclusion
Clip In hair extensions make significantly more sense for me at this point! I’m thrilled to be able to style my hair long whenever I want to and still watch my hair get stronger and healthier when I take them out. I highly recommend the Glam Seamless extensions, and if you have any questions at all, leave them in the comment box below!
