Hi everyone! It’s so hard to believe that we’re finally here and have closed on our very first home! It’s been such an exciting journey, and if you’ve been following along for a while, you know how thankful we are that this all fell into place. Especially before Arizona real estate literally blew up! We got insanely lucky with our timing. One of the most exciting parts of building our first home, was getting to pick and choose (most of) the design. We went the semi-custom route, so some of the choices and selections were limited, but one of the things we fell in love with was our flooring. Today I’m sharing the tile details for our new home!
Background
So here’s the deal with semi-custom homes: you go to a design center and select from the builder’s pre-approved home details (flooring, countertops, paint color, etc). One of the things that was very important to us was flooring. We knew exactly what we wanted, but some of it had to be done after we closed.
We love the idea of hardwood floors, but we have 2 active doggies, wear our shoes indoors (don’t judge), and knew tile was a better choice for our lifestyle. We absolutely fell in love with the Arizona Tile Porta Nuova Rovere 6-1/2 x 40 tile. Thankfully it was an option from the builder, but ONLY in certain rooms. The builder specified that they only do carpet in the bedrooms (I know, it doesn’t make sense!), so we decided to put the $0 basic carpet in those rooms temporarily until we closed. So once we got the keys, we had the tile guys in the house within 48 hours.
The Tile
As mentioned above, we fell in love with the Arizona Tile Porta Nuova Rovere 6-1/2 x 40 tile. It’s a wood like tile that really warmed the space. Our entire downstairs was finished with this exact tile, and today I’m sharing how we updated our loft, Primary bedroom and closet. Since we haven’t moved just yet, I will definitely update this post and share photos once we move in and get furniture inside!
Before/After Photos
We redid 3 rooms with the Arizona Tile Porta Nuova Rovere tile. Here are the before and after photos:
The Loft
Honestly my husband and I were torn on whether or not to carpet or tile the loft! It took us a few weeks to make a final decision, but once we did, we knew it was the right choice. We plan on making this space a lounge area with a TV (although I think my husband would really like a ping pong table here LOL). We ended up doing a herringbone pattern and absolutely love how it turned out! The tiles are 40″ long, which really gives it that wood look we love and wanted.
Primary Bedroom
How crazy is this transformation!? We’re both so happy with how much the tile changed the look of our bedroom. Again, we repeated the herringbone pattern and absolutely love how it turned out. Our bedroom is pretty big (literally bigger than my first studio apartment), and we can’t wait to decorate this space! I love that we have a long entry way to our bedroom, where we did have carpet and changed the tile to run the same direction as downstairs into the herringbone.
Primary Closet
Our closet is one of my favorite rooms in the house! No joke, I’ve never been so excited to have a walk in closet! I”ll share more details on our custom closet redo, once it’s complete. But the tile was the first step!
Jesse and I started off living together in a tiny 700 square foot apartment with legit 2 tiny closets. Poor Jesse sacrificed his closet for me, and used dresser drawers for most of his clothes! Needless to say, it was TIGHT.
All these years later, we are fortunate enough to have our very own walk in closet! We knew that we wanted the tile to match the bathroom and bedroom, so we ripped the carpet out immediately and added tile to the space. We again, repeated the herringbone pattern and love how it turned out!
Stay tuned over the course of the next few weeks, as we’re customizing this space with Inspired Closets of Arizona!
Arizona Tile Details
Arizona Tile is not just located in AZ. They actually have several showrooms across the western United States (including New Mexico, Texas, Utah, California, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, and soon Oregon!). Location finder HERE. They can also ship tile to other areas as well!
I also had to share this DM that I received last week. If you’re looking to purchase this tile, they ship outside of Arizona, as well.
More Details Coming
With moving just happening, I will absolutely have more photos and details of our home for you guys! We’ll be decorating and furnishing the house slowly, and will certainly keep you updated on the blog and on Instagram. I’ll also be sure to update this blog post with photos of how our Arizona Tile looks when our rooms are fully furnished. Bookmark this tab and check back!
Have a fabulous week friends!
