Hi everyone! First and foremost, I’m INSANELY thankful that you are here! I’m keeping this light and relatively normal right now, because truthfully I think that’s what we all need. When I started Always Meliss, my goal was to inspire people to be their best selves. In turn, I’ve learned so much about myself! I quit my full time job 16 months ago, and have been working from home (for myself) ever since.
In the past 16 months I have learned how to productively work from home, and today I’m sharing 5 tips to boost productivity while working from home!
5 Tips To Boost Productivity While Working From Home
1. Create a Schedule & Work In Break Times
If you follow me on Instagram stories, you’ve noticed that every single day I wake up and create my schedule for the day. It’s significantly helped me get more organized! Creating a schedule will keep you on track and determined to check things off your list.
I downloaded the Artful Agenda App (it’s desktop friendly and syncs to your phone app). I’ve been using this for the past week to schedule my days/time out better. The app syncs to my Google calendar, allows me to break out my schedule for the Month, Week, and Day. It also tracks water consumption, personal goals, daily and long term goals, plus it has a task check list! It was $34 for the year, which I know is worth it. If you are looking for a mobile, consolidated planner, this one is amazing! My referral code is ‘71452‘ if you’re interested.
Don’t forget to schedule in breaks every hour or two! I personally need a ten minute break after every hour. I give myself an hour for lunch (I don’t recommend less than 30 minutes)! Working in break times will help you refocus and maintain a steady work pace.
2. Get Dressed and Ready For The Day
Just because you’re working from home, shouldn’t give you an excuse to be lazy! When I first began working from home, I was SO excited to work in my PJs. I soon realized that the days I’d get dressed, I felt more awake, ambitious, and productive. My check list easily gets smaller when I’m more productive. Getting ready for the day also creates a feeling of normalcy. You will be more productive by getting dressed and ready for the day!
3. Make a Work Space
If you didn’t know, my husband and I both work full time from home. With that said, we obviously needed separate spaces. He has his space carved out in another area of the house and we redesigned our guest room as a home office a few months back (post HERE).
The moment I sit down at my desk, is the second I put down my phone, open my calendar, and get hyper focused. I actually get WAY more work done in an hour with my office door shut, than I do all day sitting on the couch.
4. Be Active!
Just because you are stuck at home, shouldn’t warrant laziness! There are so many studies that show being active has positive impacts on our mood and overall attitude.
It’s amazing to see community come together during stressful times. I’ve seen countless gyms and apps offering FREE at home workouts! YouTube also has some great at home workout classes, Peloton is offering rides, and even if you just get out for a walk, it’s going to help you!
Personally I prefer morning workouts, and my regular routine won’t be changing. I schedule in my work outs for about an hour after I wake up, make coffee and check my email. Then I dive into a 30 to 60 minute workout. Do the same! Be sure to work in at least 15 minutes to be active (even if it’s just walking around your house or apartment!).
5. Have a positive attitude
I realize this may be the most challenging when times are tough, however, there are significant benefits to having a positive attitude!
Here’s a few: hope, happiness, self confidence, optimism, less stress, boost immune system, productivity, JUST to name a few!!
If you are feeling anxious or stressed, I’ve personally had a great experience using CBD (my personal favorite is HERE and code ALWAYSMELISS is a 15% off discount code).
Conclusion
I hope these 5 tips help you boost productivity while working from home! Give them a full week shot and see how things end up going! I have a feeling you’ll be super happy with the results, based on my own experience.
