My first time with BOTOX

Hi friends! In June I had my very first experience getting botox, and I’m finally sharing the details! I was going to write this immediately after my first appointment, but decided to wait a couple months to see how it set in over time. I’m glad I chose to wait, because I’m sharing exactly what to expect for the first two months!

Before the Appointment

I’ve always been told I look younger than I am. If you missed it, my 32nd birthday was in May. I always told myself I’d get botox by the time I was 28, and clearly I let a few years pass after!

I wouldn’t say I had many wrinkles, but my forehead definitely moved and I wanted to make myself feel good! SO, after years of thinking about making an appointment, I finally did!

I chose to go to Body Couture after seeing my best friend’s botox results and her sister’s perfect pout (which I had no idea either of them had done until talking with my BFF about botox). I’ve known both of them for my entire life, and the fact that they both looked SO natural is what turned me to Lisa at Body Couture.

I’ll be honest, I could have done more research, but seeing the results my friend and her sister had, plus knowing that Lisa is an RN (registered nurse), made me feel comfortable and confident in booking my appointment.

The Consult

Upon check in, Lisa was prompt and ready for me at my appointment time! We went back and prior to doing anything, we discussed what I wanted. FULL transparency, I straight up just said “no wrinkles” and I want to look natural. She totally knew what I wanted, which is probably what everyone else asks for, and we began!

The Appointment

Lisa began by using a topical numbing cream on my forehead. She let it set there for 5 to 10 minutes while she got the injections ready to go.

Once the numbing cream set it, she began! Full transparency, I’m not scared of needles, but I did get a little nervous. I’m sure the numbing cream helped, but I legit felt nothing. Seriously, no pain whatsoever! Once she was done injection, she gave me and ice pack to put on my forehead. I had a tiny bit of bleeding in some of the injection spots, but they stopped once I patted them with a tissue.

The injection spots were red for about 30 minutes. I went straight to another appointment afterward and by the time I got there, they were gone! You can’t lay down for about 4 hours after injections, so please be cautious when booking your appointment and know you can’t lay down right away!

Results

The results took about 1 full week to set in. I noticed a huge difference within a matter of days. My forehead felt “tighter,” if that makes any sense! I actually love how it felt that first week. It’s been 2 months, and I have no wrinkles still! Lisa used 25 units (a ton of you asked me that question on Instagram, I don’t know what it means, but I trusted her judgement).

I’ll probably head back in to get another round in October, pending it wears off per Lisa’s expectations. I’m extremely happy with the results and hope this post helps shed some light on Botox and why I decided to do it!
