HI loves! Sorry for this long over due post to have taken a few extra weeks. I am excited to finally share my review of the hotel Makenna and I stayed at during our stay in Los Angeles.
We were hosted by the very gracious Garland Hotel in North Hollywood. For those of you who are less familiar with LA, North Hollywood is considered “The Valley” (because it’s in San Fernando Valley). It’s conveniently located near the NoHo Arts District and lots of amazing art galleries. It’s also extremely close to Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. You can be at the beach in Santa Monica in just about a half hour, as well. It took us just about an hour to get to in heavy LA traffic once we landed at LAX. We were told it would have been easier to fly into Burbank (noted for next time!) and wold have taken about 15 minutes to drive from there.
Either way, Makenna and I were in no rush, but once we were at the hotel, we were greeted by the most welcoming valet team. I say most welcoming and mean it! They had our keys and bags out of the car in just under 60 seconds (no joke, and the hotel was busy).
Makenna and I were shown to the front desk and checked in within 5 minutes. Upon check in, the gentleman who was getting our room keys asked if we had eaten dinner. We let him know we were going to get dinner and he promptly called the restaurant and got us a last minute reservation in 30 minutes for 4 of us to their very busy restaurant on the property! What a class act. We were utterly impressed!
After our quick 3 minute check in, we were shown a map of the property and our room, and our bags followed!
THE ROOM
The room was so cute! It was spacious and had plenty of space for our two huge suitcases (and two carry on bags). We got a double room, and the beds were SO comfortable. I’m super picky with pillows as well, and I contemplated taking one with me (guys it was that good!!).
We were also greeted with a yummy charcuterie board and a bottle of wine, plus two adorable goody bags! We felt so welcomed and at home all weekend!
The balcony overlooked North Hollywood. I wouldn’t say we had an “amazing view,” but it was wonderful having a balcony with fresh air. The door was also noise cancelling, and we slept like babies! No noise from outside traffic kept us up.
THE PROPERTY
Overall the property had everything a resort can offer! There’s a beautiful pool, hot tub, a general store, restaurant, and of course a stellar bar. The outside area is also welcome and fairly large.
Although the hotel was busy, it didn’t feel overwhelming (we actually went Grammy’s weekend, so most of the city was insanely busy). The feel was really old retro/ glam Hollywood!
THE FOOD
The food at the restaurant was SO good! We met up with two of our friends (Betsy & Loren) and ended up just ordering a whole bunch of appetizers and sharing. Let me say one thing… if you go you HAVE to get the brussel sprout mac n cheese! Makenna and I craved it the next two nights, because it was that good!
We also all had drinks – which were delicious! I had two Moscow Mules… they were made perfectly.
OVERALL
Overall, I can’t recommend this hotel enough! We had such an incredible experience and are so appreciative of how well the staff treated us. This hotel gets an A+ from me!
